Compared to earlier, recruitment has now become completely digital. In-person interviews have been replaced by online interviews with the entire process being conducted similarly. The rise of remote working due to the pandemic is here to stay with many organizations considering it to be the new norm. This trend will lead to the rise of the remote workforce, where the geography of an employee will no longer be a constraint in hiring.

With many companies having paused hiring, or many even letting go of their employees, there’s a huge pool of talent waiting to be explored. Having an effective employer branding strategy helps, with employees now actively looking for lucrative options. At the very least, focusing on employer branding during this uncertain time will better position organizations for when the job market returns to normal.

With the sharp rise in remote working, the adoption of telecommuting tools has increased rapidly. Businesses are now more dependent on channels like Skype, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, etc. to stay connected. This medium has replaced face-to-face meetings and is now the preferred communication tool. It also plays an active part in the recruitment process of current times.

Remote work opportunities are likely to remain popular even after the pandemic ends. 43 percent of U.S. full-time employees already say they’d like to continue working from home after the economy reopens. This might lead to the rise of flexible work options with an emphasis on both remote working and working from the office.

Another important trend that’s on the rise is virtual onboarding and e-learning. A good onboarding process can significantly improve the retention rates of new hires. To provide a great onboarding experience to new employees during this time, frame a solid strategy and introduce them to their teammates or colleagues through online meetings. Don’t forget to check on them in the initial days to see how they are faring and solve any problems that they might be facing.

HR staff and hiring managers are also using HRMS and ATS to track and source employee data, and finally automating the entire process instead of relying on endless manual work. This is reducing stress and helping them become more organized and productive in the workplace.

The fact remains that notwithstanding the pandemic, these trends are here to stay and organizations that can adopt these strategies will excel from their competition.
